Historical Naples: Origin,Cults,Legends
Ciao explorers! I’m a Neapolitan Archaeologist and an Official Tour Guide of the Campania Region. I have a degree in Archaeology, a master in Classical Archaeology and a Ph.D. in Archeological Heritage – everything turns around archaeology for me! Also, I work on archeological excavations here in Naples. Since I was a child, I have always loved the ancient history of Greece and Rome as well as art from the Middle Ages to the 20th (1900s). My co-hosts/friends and I are ALL official guides and archeologists who all studied at the University of Naples Federico II. We’ll offer our guide’s skills of years and knowledge and a deep understanding of local culture, art, history, archaeology, and more for those who want to understand and investigate the incredible richness of Naples and…we are local 🙂 Follow Naples Grand Tour on FB & Instagram
What you’ll do
Whoever stops by Naples, shouldn’t miss a walk through its historic center w/an archeologist! No worries! I’ll guide you through the most remarkable historical/art spots of the city, with a particular focus on uncommon locations off the beaten track. We’ll stroll through the Greek/Roman “layers” of Neapolis. A UNIQUE experience that combined everything Napoli has to offer *This is not a religious tour but a mix of art, history, culture, cults, facts, stories… -Start from Piazza Bellini (the heart of Naples), walking through the ancient streets of the “Decumani” and Spaccanapoli, stops to Gothic and Baroque churches as S. Lawrence, S. Domenico and the Cathedral (to understand the Miracle of S. Gennaro’s Blood). We’ll pass the unique nativity scenes and artisans quarter of San Grergorio Armeno and we’ll see the exclusive BANKSY mural (and TONS of street art on the way!). Cult of Dead/Underground church of Purgatory or Veiled Statue are two hidden gems that i propose to visit and you can decide! Be ready for a caffè in the Maradona’s bar (with his HOLY hair!) talking about the Neapolitan culture! Food: during the tour, the best local spots and some suggestions for your evening!
